The Lord is Steadfast

We all know those people who have known what they wanted to do with their lives since they were two. They’ve been working towards being a teacher, a doctor, or even president since kindergarten and their plan hasn’t changed once. If you’re one of these people, props to you.

I, however, am not.

I changed my major three times before I even set foot on Alabama’s campus as a freshman. I moved into Ridgecrest East certain that this major was the one that I would stick with, only to change it four days into classes. Over the course of the semester, it felt like I changed my major a dozen times (which is actually more realistic than I would like it to be).

However, in this time of uncertainty, I realized one thing: no matter how much the world around us changes, no matter what our passions turn into or what life throws at us, God is constant.

Psalms 102:25-27 says “Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.   They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.”

I stumbled upon this verse this past semester, and it hit me that this is exactly what I needed to hear. The Bible says that the things of the earth don’t matter. They will never be as constant and eternal as our God, and we can rest in the fact that He has control over everything, even the fabric of the heavens and the earth.

The point is, you will change in college. Looking back over the past two years, I can already tell that I’m different than the person I was in high school. You’ll make new friends and discover new passions that you never even thought about before.

But, no matter what changes, God is steadfast. His love for us is always there. And He will never, ever change.

I can’t wait to meet you guys this fall. Good luck starting your first semester!
